SGT Carl R. Ussery, B 1/77th FA, 67-68

Carl Ussery in Vietnam  We are the family of Sgt. Carl R. Ussery, who was attached to A Co., 1/5 Cav for most of his time in Vietnam. He was reported as "Hostile Missing" as of September 28, 1968, but not reported even missing as such until October 3, 1968 to us. Later the next day, his status was changed to "Missing to Dead" stating he had died at the time of the crash.

We have credible reason to still question what we were told in 1968. Carl also received the SVN Armed Forces Honor Medal from SVN Gen. Cao Van Vien, which we have discovered was for those who were working in an advisory capacity. Othere questioned abbreviations on his casualty related file were JPPCO/ARCC, which links to Laos/Prairie Fire, and OSA.

Any information anyone might have is appreciated, whether you knew Carl or not....and any ideas would be appreciated on why we would now have records on Carl that show GSA was keeping records on him in years, on several occasions after his reported death, up to July of 1973.  We are denied the text of those records.
