The reunion was held at the Amelia Hotel, Fernandina Beach, Florida, on the beautiful Ameilia Island
September 13th, 14th, and 15th. Fernandina Beach is the NE most point in Florida. The next island to the north is Cumberland Island,
Georgia. Cumberland Island was the winter home of several notables such as the Carnegies and Rockefellers. Amelia Island is 18.5
miles north to south and 2.5 miles east to west.
The hotel overlooked a pristine beach on the Atlantic Ocean and an excellent seafood restaurant with a beachside Tiki Bar
that served as a convenient TOC. We had over 50 people attend the banquet on Friday night that included an all you can eat
Bar-B-Que dinner and an open bar. The women enjoyed shopping in the "open mall" of Fernandina and the many fine dining spots
downtown.
Bob "Doc" Bosma, founder of the 77th Artillery Association, was presented with a framed rendition of the "Artillery lends
dignity to what would otherwise be just a vulgar brawl" poster in appreciation of his long service to the organization. It wasn't
enough to compensate for all his service but it was heartfelt from a grateful organization.
Thanks goes to Jim Bowers for all the hard work and contributions he made in making this reunion such a success in his hometown.
Jim was also presented an appreciation plaque from the 2/77 active duty Battalion for his help in sponsoring their Saint Barbara Ball
in Ft. Carson.
